What is Bladder Cancer?<\/span><\/h4>

Bladder is a hollow organ located in your lower abdomen and its function is to store the urine. However, bladder cancer is a common type of cancer that begins in the cells of the bladder and growth of abnormal tissue, known as a tumour, develops in the bladder lining. In some cases, the tumour spreads into the bladder muscle.<\/p>

What are the causes of Bladder Cancer?<\/span><\/h4>

In most cases of bladder cancer, it is caused by exposure to harmful substances, which lead to abnormal changes in the bladder\u2019s cells over many years.<\/p>

Tobacco smoke is a common cause and it\u2019s estimated that more than 1 in 3 cases of bladder cancer are caused by smoking.<\/p>

Lastly, contact with certain chemicals previously used in manufacturing is also known to cause bladder cancer. However, these substances have since been banned.<\/p>
