Dr. Bassil Al-Zamkan is a highly accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon with more than 31 years of international experience in Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and the GCC. He is recognized for his expertise in complex cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, chest wall reconstruction, and the development of advanced cardiothoracic programs within leading tertiary healthcare institutions.
Throughout his career, Dr. Al-Zamkan has successfully performed over 4,500 cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, including more than 3,000 operations utilizing cardiopulmonary bypass. His clinical expertise encompasses advanced coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve repair and replacement, complex aortic surgery, minimally invasive cardiac procedures, thoracic oncology, and ECMO-supported management of critically ill patients.

A leading authority in chest wall reconstruction, Dr. Al-Zamkan specializes in the treatment of pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum, complex chest wall trauma, and rib fracture fixation in both adult and pediatric patients. He is the first and only cardiothoracic surgeon in the Middle East currently performing the innovative minimally invasive Taulinoplasty technique for correction of pectus deformities, providing patients with advanced, customized treatment options and excellent cosmetic and functional outcomes.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Al-Zamkan has played a key role in establishing and expanding cardiothoracic surgery services across major healthcare institutions. His leadership has contributed significantly to program development, multidisciplinary team building, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives aimed at achieving outstanding patient outcomes.
Dr. Al-Zamkan received his medical education at Charité University of Berlin, Germany, and holds German Board Certifications in both Cardiac Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. He is an active member of several prestigious international professional societies and serves as a Council Member of the Asian Heart Society.

He has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and is a regular speaker and faculty member at international cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery conferences.
