Our experts use a variety of therapies to treat and help you manage lower back pain. Depending on your specific symptoms and diagnosis, our specialists may use:
Physiotherapy for lower back pain
Physiotherapists design specific exercise programs to relieve lower back pain. You can do these exercises with our therapists or at home alone. Our specialists can also use non-surgical spinal decompression therapy to stretch and align the muscles and bones of your spine.
Back pain medicine
Our specialists can use pain relievers to relieve lower back pain and reduce swelling (inflammation) in the lower back area. We can recommend:
- Anticonvulsants: The drug helps reduce the nervous response.
- Antidepressants: Medications for depression help change the way your brain perceives pain signals.
- Muscle relaxants: The drug loosens knotted muscle tissue.
- Analgesic: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce inflammation and pain.
- Topical: A cream or patch is applied to the skin to relieve pain.
Spinal interventional treatment:
Saudi German spine specialists use injections to loosen muscle knots called trigger points. We can also use epidural injections to relieve pain. We can inject:
- Local anaesthetic (pain reliever): Corticosteroid injections (drugs that reduce inflammation)
- Lower back pain surgery: When low back pain causes loss of function or persistent pain in the hip or leg, surgery may be helpful. Our spine surgeons use minimally invasive spine surgery for pain relief and faster recovery. Here are some examples of the complex tools and techniques we use:
Endoscopic surgery:
Surgeons use an “endoscopic” high-definition video surveillance system that provides detailed magnified images of your spine. Using an endoscope and miniature instruments, the surgeon removes bone and repairs damage to the spine.
Expandable cage:
After removing the disc between the two vertebrae, surgeons will implant a plastic or metal cage between the vertebrae. This cage supports your spine, increasing space in the spine and promoting bone growth between the vertebrae. We can perform spine surgery for:
- Decompression of your spine and spinal nerves (tomography).
- Removal of damaged or herniated discs (discectomy).
- Remove the disc between the two vertebrae and close the gap (vertebral fusion).
- Fracture repair (spondyloarthropathy).
- Replace the damaged disc with an artificial one (replacement disc).
