The Joint Replacement Center is a branch of Orthopaedic Surgery. We provide specialized surgical treatment services for treating conditions of the hip, knee, shoulder, and ankle. Our goal is to improve our patients’ quality of life and to get them moving comfortably again. We are committed to providing the highest quality care to our joint replacement patients and to help each patient craft a personalized best treatment plan for his/her condition.
Hips are one of the most important joints in the human body. There are many varieties of hip surgeries leading up to and including total hip replacement surgery.
This reconstructive procedure helps patients whose conditions of the hip joint have not responded well to conventional medical therapy.
Your replacement hip joint will be made of various materials (including metal, plastic, and ceramic) depending on your particular needs. The new joint, called prosthesis consists of a stem, a ball, and a socket. Your surgeon will make an incision (cut) on the outside of your thigh. The stem of the prosthesis will be inserted into your femur (thigh bone), and the attached ball will be fitted into the prosthetic socket in your pelvis. The surgery takes about two hours, but a successful hip replacement begins long before you enter the hospital.
Knees are one of the most important joints in the human body. We offer all types of knee surgeries – total knee replacements, partial knee replacements and custom knee replacements. A knee replacement also called knee arthroplasty, more accurately termed a knee “resurfacing” because only the surface of the bones are actually replaced.
Severe knee pain or stiffness that limits your everyday activities, including walking, climbing stairs, and getting in and out of chairs. You may find it hard to walk more than a few blocks without significant pain.
The shoulders are among the most important joints in the human body. We offer all types of shoulder operations including total shoulder replacement surgery (also known as total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA), partial shoulder replacement surgery and rotator cuff surgery.
Patients can develop arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, sequelae fractures and massive rotator cuff tendon tear. This is a procedure intended to reduce the pain and improve function in patients who have a variety of arthritic conditions.
There are no absolute age or weight restrictions for total knee replacement surgery.
