How many types of Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures are there?

There are approximately 6 types of Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures. These include:

  • Teeth Whitening: Teeth Whitening is also known as Teeth Bleaching. It is a non-invasive type of dental procedure. It is however a very simple procedure that will restore the original white color of teeth that sometimes become discolored due to the items that we consume.
  • Dental Veneers: Veneers are usually used to repair broken or crooked teeth. They are also used to improve the shape and color of teeth. However, dental veneers are used on the front teeth which are visible while smiling or speaking. Also made from ceramic, veneers offer a permanent and long-term solution.
  • Dental Crowns: Dental Caps are used to cover the crooked, broken, or misshaped tooth. It fits over the entire damaged or crooked tooth above the gum line resulting in a restored shape, size, strength, and appearance. They can be used cosmetically to cover misshapen or severely discolored teeth. Crowns can be made from metal, porcelain-fused-to-metal, resin, or ceramic.
  • Dental Bonding: In dental bonding, a tooth-colored, putty-like resin, which is a durable plastic material, is applied to the tooth and hardened with an ultraviolet or laser light, bonding the material to the tooth. Your dentist then trims, shapes, and polishes it. Bonding can repair decayed, chipped, cracked, or misshapen teeth; it is also a good cosmetic alternative to, or replacement for, amalgam or silver fillings. Bonding takes about 30 to 60 minutes
  • Dental Implants: In case of severely damaged, missing, or decayed teeth, dental implants are used to replace missing teeth with dental implants. Initially, a cosmetic dentist will attach a screw to the jaw to provide support and firmness and afterwards, an implant is inserted into the bone socket of the missing tooth. Once properly attached, the dental implant should blend into the surrounding teeth.
  • Inlays and Onlays: Inlays and onlays, also known as indirect fillings, are used when a tooth is too decayed to support a typical filling. These fillings are created in a dental laboratory and bonded in place by a cosmetic dentist.
