Breast Work-up: A detailed initial consultation forms the basis for successful individual treatment.
Decision-making/Selection of diagnostic pathway: Depending on the findings of the initial breast examination, an individual diagnostic plan is set up.
Basic information about possible treatment options: The Breast Surgeon communicates the decision of the Breast Tumor board to the patient.
Depending on the result of the diagnostic pathway, there a 3 possible treatment pathways:
Currently, one in eight women (12,5%) will develop breast cancer in their lifetime: The risk increases with age. Younger women are only rarely affected, the risk only increases from the age of 40 and especially from the age of 50, before dropping again from around the age of 70.
Men get breast cancer, too: However, compaired to women the ratio is 1:100.Since there are no early breast cancer detection programs for men, the disease is usually diagnosed in men at a later stage than in women.
