Dr. Balaji Nagammapudur

Having completed his initial medical school and primary surgical qualifications in India, Balaji had proceeded to train and complete his higher surgical training in the UK in 1998.
He spent 2 years of clinical research in the University of Southern California and developed an interest in Oesophageal diseases and Foregut surgery. He then completed his CCT in the UK in Upper GI surgery and proceeded to working as a consultant in Upper GI and Bariatric surgery since 2006. Having spent 6 years in India he returned to the UK and had been a consultant in the national Health Service (NHS) and has completed about 10 years as a consultant in Upper GI and Bariatric surgery in the UK since 2014.
He has held leadership positions in the trust, regionally and nationally in the field of Upper GI and Bariatric surgery.
His passion includes management of complex oesophageal diseases, performing advanced open and minimally invasive oesophageal and hiatal surgery in addition to having expertise in performing primary and revisional bariatric (weight loss surgeries). He has served as a lead for one of the top 5 high volume bariatric surgery centres in the UK.
